If you feel like the last thing you have time for today is yoga, you’re not alone. But hear this: Life won’t make space for your yoga practice unless you take it.
The truly balanced among us aim to strike a healthy equilibrium between energy and exhaustion and work to stoke a steady internal flame of nourishment and vitality. And that involves making a regular yoga practice one of your top priorities.
The exact frequency of “regular” varies. Every body is different, and there are many factors that can influence your practice on any given day. There’s a fine line between pressing forward to new levels of strength and fitness and just plain overdoing it.
Many people find their sweet spot doing yoga 3 to 4 times a week for 30- to 45-minute sessions. But even if you only have 20 minutes—or 5—take it. Any yoga you do is a victory.
Whenever you practice, aim for consistency, and for best results, challenge yourself. Asking more of ourselves in some way—mental, emotional, or physical—is how we grow.
