Accidents, breakups, and deadlines happen. You can’t control these stressors, but you can control your reaction to them. Suffering occurs when you resist what is. You might want fewer bills, more attention from your partner, a different job—but if your sole focus is on what’s not working in your life, you miss out on what is, and maybe, some potential opportunities.
This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t desire change. That’s what all of this yoga stuff is about after all, isn’t it? But to get through your challenges, both physical and mental, you must let go of your resistance to reality.
Still, accepting difficulty doesn’t mean you have to like it. Hugging into your challenges and looking for the lesson in them rather than pushing them away can help you actually let go of them sooner.
