Kirtan, Indian-style music and chanting, is catching on big in the United States. According to an article from the <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/05/fashion/05fitness-01.html?_r=1" target="_blank"New York Times, people who were once wary of the chanting practice have warmed up to it recently after being introduced to it during their yoga classes.

The article sites rising kirtan attendance numbers in New York City and hints that the bad economy might be playing a part in the increase. Kirtan is "a relatively inexpensive route to bliss in difficult times," writes the author.

Do you agree? Have you seen increased interest in your studio's kirtan offerings?
