Balanced Rock
Yosemite Journeys for Mind, Body and Spirit
Yosemite is a world-heritage site, celebrated as one of the most sacred places on earth. Our weekend camping retreats and backpack trips harness the transformative power of nature to inspire deep connection with your own inner wisdom. We use the tools of meditation, yoga and creative expression in nature to invite deep empowerment. All outdoor and yoga skill levels welcome. Scholarships are available. Course size is limited.
Trips in 2013 include Nature + Nurture Backpack Retreat, Creative Awakening Art Retreat, and Music of the High Sierra, among others. Our instructors and guides are Yosemite locals with deep knowledge of the outdoors. Each retreat is staffed by at least one Wilderness First Responder, and at least one RYT-200 certified yoga instructor. Also many of the trips are facilitated by expert artists such as local painter Penny Otwell, and acclaimed singer-songwriter Nicki Bluhm. Every Balanced Rock experience includes a delectable menu that is based on organic, local ingredients whenever possible.
Balanced Rock is synonymous with yoga in Yosemite! If you are here visiting the area on your own, join us at our weekly donation-based community yoga classes or our annual day-long workshop, Yoga Jambalaya. Additionally, as a nonprofit organization we are proud to serve a range of different communities, including establishing the Yosemite Youth Expedition for local at-risk youth (now in its fourth year), and the country's first Women of Color backpack retreat (now in its sixth year).
Check out our full schedule of courses online.
Balanced Rock is a Yosemite-based nonprofit and our mission is to inspire balance and well-being through deep connection to nature and spirit.
