On 80 acres in the beautiful foothills of the Sierras, Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm was established in 1971 by Indian yoga master Swami Vishnudevanananda. The ashram teaches the traditional teachings of classical yoga and Vedanta as per the lineage of renowned Himalayan Master Sivananda, who wrote over 200 books on Vedanta philosophy, bhakti yoga, karma yoga, hatha yoga, raja yoga and jnana yoga.

The ashram offers health retreats and certificate courses year-round for all levels including teacher training certification, yoga vacations, self-knowledge, positive thinking and meditation courses, cleansing and rejuvenation retreats, yoga and Ayurveda courses,  specialized retreats for beginners, seniors, children, people in recovery, and permaculture enthusiasts.

The daily schedule includes guided meditation, kirtan, pranayama, asana classes, organic vegetarian meals and inspired lectures/workshops from swamis or special guest teachers. There are choices of comfortable accommodations.

The month-long intensive yoga teacher training certifications are held in May, October and December each year. TTC teachings are not just academic but are based on daily yogic life and the training of the four classical paths of yoga. Over 30,000 yoga teachers worldwide have taken TTC Yoga Alliance 200-hour certification.

The Sivananda Yoga Farm is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

"Serve, love, give, purify, meditate, realize." --Swami Sivananda
