Yoga for health and fitness based on Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.

This teacher training is for yogis, fitness, and health professionals, or anyone who wants to deepen their practice and teach what they love.  It's based on Pattabhi Jois' Ashtanga Vinyasa method and students will learn the primary series inside and out.  Modifications for all asanas and transitions are taught to make this training accessible for everyone. Discipline, breath, form, focus and meditation are emphasized. Quickly students will be stronger, leaner, feel lighter and deeply connected to their purpose. Journaling, self-observation, and establishing a home practice are required.

Once students are fluent in the primary series, they will learn how to create and sequence classes for diverse populations. Students are encouraged to play around with choreography and modifications to create a class format for their target population. Karma yoga at a local non-profit is a part of the program.

Intensive weekends are one weekend a month for six months, plus additional practices and karma yoga teaching hours. Strong emphasis on anatomy and physiology, teaching methodology, assisting and adjustments, Sanskrit, history and philosophy, ethics and the business of yoga.

Registered yoga school with Yoga Alliance as Melisa Deane Yoga.  Melisa Deane is an E-RYT with Yoga Alliance and has been teaching Ashtanga Yoga, vinyasa and yoga for children and special populations for more than ten years.  She is also a certified STOTT Pilates instructor, personal trainer and fitness coach.
