Birchwood Center for Yoga and Massage Therapy has been in the heart of Nyack since 1998, housing three beautiful studios, two massage offices and the Yoga Essentials boutique.
Birchwood Center offers a full schedule of yoga classes, held seven days a week, in our immaculate, sunlit studios with views of the Hudson River. The center offers private and semi-private sessions and individually designed programs for anyone wishing to advance their yoga practice or focus on a particular issue. Committed to promoting regular yoga practice as a tool for conscious, healthful living, Birchwood Center yoga teachers are chosen for their unique approach and their ability to inspire students at all levels of experience.
Birchwood Center also offers 200- and 500-hour Yoga Alliance-approved teacher trainings. Our core program includes alignment-based hatha yoga technique, teaching methodology, yoga philosophy and meditation. The goal of our teacher training program is to produce quality yoga instructors who are creative in their teaching and committed to the practice and understanding of yoga as a way of life.
As part of a rounded program we offer yoga for kids and teens, ages 6-17. Children learn postures, breathing techniques, meditation, and relaxation in a fun, age-appropriate setting. Our approach to yoga for kids and teens does not stop at asana practice. Incorporated into the classes are creative, enjoyable exercises that work to develop the whole child.
Birchwood Center's gentle yoga program is an individualized opportunity to gently explore and tune into the body with a meditative frame of mind while increasing flexibility, strength and well-being. Our approach incorporates a strong but gentle physical practice, deep attention to breath and a weaving of meditation and inner awareness into every moment and movement. All levels are invited—seniors, special needs, beginners, pre-/postnatal, and anyone who wants a restful, meditative class to balance a more vigorous practice.Â
Other offerings include prenatal yoga, restorative yoga, hatha yoga, vinyasa flow, Yoga 101 for Every Body and Moving Mantras.
