Barefoot Movement has two, sunny, third-floor studios with huge windows, high ceilings and beautiful wood floors located in the heart of Downtown Oakland. This down-to-earth, community-oriented studio, directed by Leah Gillman, offers a friendly, personal approach to practice and in-depth study of both yoga and bodywork.

The studio offers a full daily schedule of affordable classes in flow yoga at various levels, prenatal yoga, postnatal yoga, meditation, restorative and bodywork. Childcare and bilingual instruction are available for some classes.

Workshops, Advanced Study programs, and Teacher Trainings are offered throughout the year.  Our programs are both rich in experience and affordable in price! Monthly payment options and early registration discounts are available.

The Flow Yoga Teacher Training programs (FYTT) are registered with Yoga Alliance at the 200 hr & 500 hr levels.  The programs provide the necessary structure to motivate and encourage all levels of students, with additional opportunities for those who are ready for more. The program is directed by Leah Gillman, joined by instructors Carrie Adams (Anusara), Cybèle Tomlinson (ViniYoga), Kristin Marshman (Ashtanga), Mary Beth Ray (Ashtanga), Karen Johnson and more.

Bodywork styles that are floor-based and clothes-on, such as Ashiatsu with Edward Spencer, Barefoot Bodywork with Leah Gillman and Thai Massage are offered at the studio.  These are all styles that are efficient to practice and gratifying to receive.  To both receive and learn how to practice, we offer individual drop-in classes on a weekly basis as well as weekend workshops that help to develop your awareness, coordination and balance.  With regular practice students learn how to give a therapeutic, full-body treatment.  To simply receive a session, try our Low-Cost Community Style Sessions offered by advanced students, beginning level professionals as well as experienced professionals.
