Ananda Yoga is based on the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda. It was founded in 1968 by Yogananda’s direct disciple, Swami Kriyananda. The teaching is rooted in the realization that God in everyone and the Divine is accessible to everyone. Ananda Yoga brings yoga back to its original spiritual essence and context. It seeks to raise a person’s level of consciousness by reinforcing the natural effects the poses have. Similarly this yoga is designed to help harmonize your body, mind, and spirit. A typical class includes Asana (yoga postures), Pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation, and teachings on yoga philosophy. It is suitable for all body types and physical conditions.
