Welcome to the Yoga Journal ISHTA Yoga Directory page. In this section you will find yoga studios, retreat centers, and teachers who specialize or incorporate ISHTA Yoga into their practice and philosophy.

Alan Finger developed ISHTA Yoga with his father, Kavi Yogiraj Mani Finger (a disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda and Swami Venkatesananda) in the 1960's. The acronym ISHTA stands for Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra, and Ayurveda. The focus is on helping a person become balanced in all aspects of their being to create a strong foundation for spiritual growth. ISHTA classes are generally built around a theme such as balancing a chakra and the classes will be designed around that theme. Most classes include alignment-based vinyasa sequence, along with meditation, breath-work, and kriyas (cleansing techniques).
