Swami Saraswati Nirmalananda (formerly Rama Berch) founded Svaroopa Yoga in 1192. This was 16 years after her "cosmic download" other wise known as her Kundalini awakening. This awakening channeled specific yoga sequences that would form the basis for Svaroopa. She was a long time student of Swami Muktananda (1908-1982) and has been ordained into the order of Saraswati monks. Svaroopa, a Sanskrit word taken from Patanjali's Yoga Sutra, means "the bliss of your own Being." Svaroopa's gentle approach focuses on releasing the muscles around the spine. Expect floor work with a lot of propping and hands-on adjustments. Classes can last up to two hours and always begin and end with Savasana.
