WEEK 1: Homework
A key part of yoga practice is the practice of svadhyaya, which means self-study. This practice involves observing different aspects of yourself and your experience—your mood, your inner dialogue, your energy level—without judgment. When you cultivate this skill, you start to build more awareness, and when you have more awareness of how you are feeling on a particular day, you can more easily make choices that support you.
Your homework this week is to begin the process of self-study and to reflect on how you felt during your practice. Please post your responses to the questions here so that you can both offer and find support from others who are also doing the challenge!
What was your favorite part of practice this week?
What kinds of physical or mental challenges came up?
Was there a tool that got you through the tough parts—either the teacher's encouragement, your breath, or a practice partner?
How did you feel after the practices physically?
What was your state of mind after the practices?
WEEK 2: Homework
Your homework this week is to take one 5- to 10-minute break every day and either do Balanced Breathing or Desk Yoga. Then post your answers to the questions here and check out the responses from your classmates, too!
Which "yoga break" did you prefer—the breathing exercise or the physical exercise—and why?
How did you feel before you took your break?
How did you feel after your break?
Can you see the value in taking time each day to relax and reset your body and mind?
WEEK 3: Homework
You're almost finished with the Fitness Challenge! We hope that you've enjoyed it and we hope that it has
inspired you to continue on with your yoga practice. This week, we want to know what you loved about the
Challenge, and what we could improve upon. Don't forget to post your answers here.
Tell us which practice was your favorite and why.
Tell us which practice was your least favorite and why.
Please create three goals that you will commit to after the challenge is over.
