Alternative to Viagra

Yoga can enhance men's sex lives by improving cardiovascular health and reducing anxiety.

By Michael Castleman

"I know of no studies showing that yoga directly helps prevent and treat ED," says Hank Wuh, M.D., author of Sexual Fitness (Putnam, 2001), who also practices Ashtanga Yoga. "But it's certainly conceivable. Yoga is deeply relaxing and it improves cardiovascular fitness, both of which clearly improve sexual health."

What poses are best for ED? San Francisco yoga teacher Jason Crandell suggests asanas that enhance focus and energy and are believed to increase blood flow into the pelvic area, among them Uttanasana (Standing Forward Bend), Baddha Konasana (Bound Angle Pose), and Janu Sirsasana (Head-to-Knee Pose). Also, Wuh suggests couples yoga. "In addition to being relaxing and improving sexual fitness, yoga strengthens a couple's connection," he says. "That contributes to intimacy and sexual enjoyment."

Making genital area strong ( the perineum esp. ) with exercises like mula bandha and aswini mudra, plus all asanas that stretch the psoas muscle ( like warrior, and pigeon ) help, but if you have real ED like after a prostatectomy viagra in conjunction with the above brings back what it used to be. Without viagra it'll be OK for you but not so much for her. I think, in the absence of a real medical problem, if you strengthen the perineum it'll be better.

If you are interested in research on ED, the Institute for Erectile Dysfunction Research has set up a new database and resource for news and research on ED at Erectile Dysfunction Central ( http://www.erectiledysfunctioncentral.org ). The site is updated weekly and is available in 23 languages. The site also aggregates research and news on viagra, cialis, levitra, and natural remedies for Ed. Research abstracts on the effects of yoga on ED are available here; simply search the term "yoga" on the site.

Never had ED issue in my life til work routine changed past year, traveling extensively and the sleep deprivation that accompanied it. 6', 165# 38 year old extremely healthy male who is puzzled as to analyzing problem otherwise. Ashtanga stretches & breathing wonderful but apparently futile as of late when it comes to successful intercourse. She is gorgeous and, without question, this is not an issue of desire. Suggestions?
