Poets Against the WarEdited by Sam Hamill, with Sally Anderson and others. Thunder's Mouth Press/Nation Books.
Poet Sam Hamill and his colleagues sifted through some 13,000 submissions to select the 262 poems presented in this volume. The poets represented--some famous and some unknown, including former YJ senior editor Colleen Morton Busch--rail and mourn and express hope, fear, mistrust, and outrage. With a painstaking specificity that is the poet's province, they focus on the preciousness and fragility of life, highlighting the moral insult of war. Yogis will appreciate the discernment of their voices and the spirit of ahimsa (nonharming) that is evident throughout.
