Yoga Basics by C. Alexander Simpkins and Annellen SimpkinsTuttle.
All-purpose yoga guides have proliferated like mind fluctuations in recent years, and many of them simply cover the same ground. If you're in the market for an introductory yoga guide, however, Yoga Basics is a darn good one. Not to be confused with Yoga Journal's Yoga Basics (Henry Holt, 1997), by Mara Carrico, this new title by the authors of several books on meditation and Eastern philosophy contains an excellent history of the yoga tradition as well as an overview of the various contemporary schools, and it outlines a worthwhile but doable practice for beginners.
