Yoga for Beginners, with Elena Brower. Starz Home Entertainment; anchorbayentertainment.com

This unique beginner yoga sequence progresses through sitting warm-up exercises with a modicum of breathwork, a Sun Salutation nicely modified for beginners, a half dozen time-tested standing poses, a series of hip and groin openers, three "baby" backbends, a few supine cool-down exercises, and relaxation. Elena Brower, the founder of Virayoga in New York, is an Anusara Yoga instructor. She's an excellent teacher, with a smooth, serene delivery and clear directions. However, you might find her concluding relaxation, which she calls the "most important pose," too short at less than two minutes. But all in all she offers an approachable sequence for beginning students or more experienced students wanting to take it a little easy and enjoy their practice.
