Farm2Fashion, a company based in Cornwall, New York, sources its high-quality wool from nearby Pennsylvania farmers for a line of pillows, throws, scarves, vests, and wraps made in New York and New Jersey. Likewise, Voormi, an outdoor performance-apparel brand based in Colorado, partners with Rocky Mountain sheep herders to keep the entire production process—from design to manufacturing—in the western United States. “Local sourcing and manufacturing are about reducing our carbon footprint and thinking about what we want our legacy to be,” says Laurie Perrone, founder and creative director of Farm2Fashion. “Our motto is that sustainability is an action, not a buzzword.” Here’s to more fashion companies following suit.
