Out There: Yoga, Music, Slam Poetry + Fashion Party

Attention Charleston yogis: YOGAPOP is back and better than ever. The second annual yoga and music event will also feature fashion and spoken word poetry this year. Acclaimed poet Matt Foley wrote the words especially for YOGAPOP on the theme of “radiate.” And at the inaugural “Studio to Streets” fashion show, you can catch local models strutting and Urdva Dhanurasana-ing down the runway in the hippest new yoga threads.

“The first YOGAPOP was an incredible community event with over 500 yogis coming together in movement and music,” says YogaPop founder Hilary Johnson. “We’re thrilled for the second installment of YOGAPOP, a themed-night which celebrates being your true, authentic self.”

Come rain or shine, the event kicks off with yoga taught by Cortney Ostrosky. The practice will be accompanied by the upbeat indie-folk tunes of Logan Venderlic, described by Wall Street Journal as “Tom Petty-meets-Appalachia.” After class, visit vendor village to re-electrolyze with local brews or coconut water, plus plenty of healthy nosh to satisfy diets from paleo to gluten-free to vegan.  The night finishes with the fashion show, which will lend ideas for going straight from Savasana to chic with yoga clothing stylish enough for happy hour. If this all-ages, multi-genre event is sure to send you home radiating.
