Grief can be debilitating; to mourn the loss of a loved one is perhaps one of the greatest pains we feel as humans. Though grief comes in many forms, and we all cope in varied ways, the essential brokenness of grief is universal. When we work through the grieving process, we attempt to fill a void or mend a wound that’s been fatefully and violently created, oftentimes with no explanation. So what do we do to heal our hearts?

In this meditation by Lodro Rinzler, we’re encouraged to drop the narrative around our pain and focus on the feeling itself. When we go past the details that surround our grief, he tells us, we can attain an unadulterated calmness that’ll help us manage the sadness more easily.
