Forgiveness
I began commuting to work on my bike two weeks ago. I immediately fell in love with the morning ride: It replaced my chai and woke me up, it was good for the environment, it helped heal my sacroiliac strain, and it was fun!
That is, until I had a close encounter with a car last Monday. In a fit of what appeared to be road rage, a driver nearly ran me over, then did the same to another cyclist. I was shaken by the incident. Over the course of several days, I experienced a range of emotions including fear, anger, sadness, and, finally, forgiveness. While this incident was only a microcosm of the larger, more complex issues we face in our lives, it was a good exercise in forgiveness for me. I got back on my bike this morning and experienced a beautiful ride.
This week, learn how to face the difficult people you encounter in life and study Cobra Pose as an exercise in opening the heart and releasing suppressed emotions. Practice acceptance and forgiveness. And finally, read one yogini’s heartfelt story and learn how to forgive yourself.
Namaste,
Andrea Kowalski
