Prosperity Consciousness

One of my favorite teachers in Japan ended her class by having students chant the simple mantra, I love what comes, and I love what goes. Chanting it always brought me a feeling of relief and a reminder to trust in the universe.

By chanting the mantra, we released the urge to grasp and tapped into prosperity consciousness. When we grasp at things—be they possessions, people, money, or even thoughts—we risk creating an environment of scarcity around ourselves. Trapped in scarcity consciousness, we manifest a reality of never having enough. However, if we allow things to flow through us and trust that life will provide for us, we’re better able to manifest prosperity—not only in terms of money or success, but also health, relationship, and spiritual wealth.

This week, learn to transform a scarcity mindset by becoming aware of your desires and embracing the principle of aparigraha (nongrasping). Trust that life will support you by surrendering your practice of Virabhadrasana II to the universe. Finally, cultivate the energy of prosperity around yourself by meditating on Lakshmi, the goddess of abundance.

Namaste,
Andrea Kowalski

Asana Column: Virabhadrasana II (Warrior Pose II)
When we yield our body weight—when we trust the Earth to support us—an upward rebounding action effortlessly lifts us away from the Earth. We make the necessary effort and maintain the body's integrity, and then we let something beyond what we know and control happen to us: We trust that life will support us.

Engaging Abundance
As the deity of wealth, good fortune, and happiness, Lakshmi stands atop an open lotus flower. But Lakshmi also gives spiritual gifts—the feeling of bliss, for example, is a sure sign of her subtle presence. Here's a practice to engage your inner principle of abundance—your Lakshmi.
