Power to the Peaceful

Saturday marked an unusually hot day for San Francisco, but the unforgiving sun didn't stop 1,200 yogis from gathering in an open field in Golden Gate Park to practice Maya Yoga and AcroYoga in the name of peace. Thousands more came later in the day in celebration of Power to the Peaceful, a free festival staged annually by yogi-musician-peace activist Michael Franti.

The impact of his genius finally struck me when Franti's band, Spearhead, performed the song "I Love You." Looking out in the crowd, I was moved to see tens of thousands of people reciting this powerful mantra in unison.

This week, visit our Michael Franti page to get a sneak preview of his new album, watch him perform two favorite songs, and see what he has to say about love, romance, and yoga in an exclusive interview. Meet Maya yogis Nicki Doane and Eddie Modestini and get their class playlist. Learn how Acro Yoga can make your practice—and your relationship—more fun. Finally, download an all-new practice video from Jason Crandell.

Namaste,
Andrea Kowalski
