Married to Your Practice?

I'm sitting with a dear yogini friend as she prepares for her wedding with traditional henna body painting, or mendhi. She will kick off her wedding day with a 4:30 a.m. morning sadhana of yoga and meditation, and a senior yoga teacher will officiate her wedding. She sent recycled invitations infused with seeds to plant, opted for recycled wedding rings, and selected an outdoor setting decorated only by nature.

My friend's choices are authentic but not uncommon. Yogis far and wide are using their practice to help inform decisions—large and small—in their lives. This week, get some great resources on how to infuse consciousness into your wedding planning. Bring mindfulness into your romantic life, and read how marriage has changed the practice—and the lives—of Nicki Doane and Eddie Modestini.

Om Shanti,
Andrea Kowalski
