The English for the pose may be misleading but according to Iyengar, Intense side (or flank) stretch is what it means (Light on Yoga, p 70-2 |

This englsh for this posture is incorrect. This is not an intense side stretch , it is a forward bend (perhaps it has been mixed up with parsVAKonasana - intense side stretch) |
