The arms are bent for begiiners so that you can place the weight of your legs on the shelf of your arms (between the shoulder and elbow, slightly lower than the deltoid), should you later feel comfortable enough to straighten your arms and further engage your core then do so cautiously. |

If this pose is difficult for you place blocks behind your heels, Place your hands on the front edge of the block. Start to slowly shift your weight back into your hands lift the legs, draw the inner thighs in toward one another. |

i found it easiest to learn this pose by starting in uttanasana. spread your legs just enough to reach your hands to the ground behind your feet. tuck your shoulders under your knees and swing your hips down toward the floor. after you master it this way try entering from malasana, bhujapidasana, and bakasana |

if you do yhe dorsi flex of your feet, the legs will pull back and low your sacrum, and that will make the pose a littlemore dificult. |
