When I do this pose, my feet are the place I feel the most discomfort. Is that normal? |

I love this position. Lotus was always so difficult and this is far more natural to me. I took my 1st yoga class last summer...can't wait to repeat this summer. |

in teacher traiining, I felt the same as nancy, thought I would scream! but I persevered, by practicing a second, then 2 seconds and so forth, and on my bed.I was age 52 at the time. it took months but I learned to do it through patience, I am 65, and can still do it, with caution , though my knees are arthritic. |

Ive sat like this my whole life naturally, i could never sit cross legged because it hurt so bad. now in my practice ive been trying to sit in any lotus, python etc posture and it has been very difficult and painful, so ty to all those involved with this posture, it may not work for most but its perfect for me. |

Yes I second that. I feel as if my knees will rip apart if I even attempt to sit on my heels now. This pose is NOT knee friendly and I am surprised to see it in the list. |

Avoid this position if you have arthritic knees or ankles. A big NO NO if it is rheumatoid arthritis. This position could also affect the nerves which surround the knee causing foot drop. |

aren't the thighs parallel with the floor and not perpendicular to it? |

I have arthritis in my knees, and have never been able to do this pose without pain. Should I stop trying? |

I am 225lbs and I too have a tough time with this pose. After practicing it for several weeks however I have been able to extend my time to about 1 minute with mild discomfort. I hope to gain more flexibility with this to eventually rest my buttocks on the floor. After reading this however I will try to angle my knees closer to see if that helps. |

Would sitting on yoga bricks help with this issue? That way you do not sit on the floor and cause additional stress on the knees. |
