I managed this pose for the first time last week where I actually felt I was doing it correctly and was very relaxed. |

Viparita Karani, even in simplified forms,is a great pose for seniors and for those with swollen feet or arthritis. it is excellent for getting rid of ugly, blood -soaking varicose veins..I know this from personal expereince. |

The bolster or any other prop under the pelvis is to make the pose more of an inversion. Of course, it is fine to do the pose without the props too. Always listen to your body. |

I do this pose against the wall without a bolster. And I do it without the wall and with a bolster with my legs suspended. This helped me so much when I had sciatica--I would even fall asleep |

I have quite a lot of discomfort in the lower back when I use the bolster. Can you tell me what the purpose of the bolster is as it seems kind of intense for something that is restorative? I substitute blankets but I'm wondering if I would eventually get more benefit from the bolster. |
