@Karen: It won't happen over night. Your joints, muscles, and tendons are tight. Keep practicing and in a few weeks you'll notice a difference. Practice makes perfect, these moves aren't useless.

To Drew: I've been weight training since the age of 15 and I am now almost 40. I've always had a rounded fitness routine that included yoga to keep my flexibility and to release stress. Keep practicing yoga. The benefits accumulate the same as weight training. :)

i totally agree with karen. i suffer from tight shoulders and short arms. lots of weight training over the years has obviously not helped. but despite lots of foam rolling and stretching daily, i have yet to clasp my hands behind my back i any sort of pose.

it would be helpful, and even inspiring, if you could post stretches from someone who has overcome this natural limitation to such poses.

rushabh zaveri

good stuff would like to know more.

I don't think that you have ever seen tight shoulders. I can't lift my arms up from back, much less let them fall over my head strap no strap. There is no way my arms can twist over my leg.
These stretches are useless for the people who need them the most!!

Julie Howard

It would be helpful to show pictures of these poses....
