Audio would be awesome!
deva premal has a lovely mantra/meditation track on i-tunes.
IT TOOK 15 MIN BUT I FOUND MY VERSION OF THE MANTRA AND IT IS INDEED OM GUN GANAPATAYE NAMAYA :)
Raj S. Iyer
It is actually, OM GUHN (like GUN!-:) Ganapataye Namaha.
Guhm pronounced as Goom actually means 'Lost"
and when pronounced as Gum actually means "Sadness"!
Heavens sake do not blindly follow our Hindu rituals without understanding the meaning.
It would be far better if you just say, Oh ganesha, the lord of auspicious beginnings, we greet you with respect and seek your blessings. Right in English.
It would be very helpful if there was some audio to hear what this mantra sounds like.
I bought the Mantra Meditation for Physical Health CD after sampling this audio of this mantra. The CD great! I highly recommend it. The author is thorough and insightful.
One of my favorites!
Thanks so much for posting that MP3 link. That looks like an informative MP3 album.
Check out muscian MC Yogi, song "Elephant Power" - they say this mantra in the song so you can hear how it is pronounced. And L.L. the translation is "Om and salutaions to Ganesha"
I don't know if this is the correct pronunciation, but there is a free mp3 of this mantra at the following:
A quick google search located it. There may be others.
