I find the facts are outdated in this article. New science shows us that static stretching is not beneficial. Unless you are a dancer or Circus Soleil performer you do not need to sit in a split. Furthermore the static stretching reduces the strength of the muscle. So, strength training after the static stretch sounds like oxymoron. Let us think what is really beneficial for our students. Is it the ego boosting pretzel or the longevity and the vitality of the body?

Wonderful article, which I would share with my students if it weren't for the massive number of distracting advertisements all around it, obscuring the small black text of the article.

Being a dancer I find this information to be very useful and will use this information for better things
mmmm.... pretty interesting stuff.
I find this article a wonderful balance of inspiration, directly useful information and of a quality that reflects the very subject of the author's writing. Thank you.
What an excellent article! This gives me so much insight & information that I can apply to my practice.
This is a fabulous article. I am a physical therapist and yogi since 1999. This article is very well researched, balanced in its examples and extremely applicable to teachers and students alike. Thank you!
I have been doing yoga now since 2002. My practice is primarily home based due to many factors which subsequetially brought me back to yoga in the first place. I let my breath guide me and my knowledge of anatomy to deepen my intuitive yoga growth. The Anatomy of Yoga book has helped me tremendously. Recently, I have been able to indulge myself with Ashtanga classes a few times/month. I bring the sequences home and transform the Ashtanga routine to Hatha practice where I focus on the sequences and how they relate to each other in a slower practice. I find myself going to a blissfull world that I hope to one day share. Namaste, Gina

What more is there to say...if only we can get these computer/Ipod/TV obsessed kids to understand this. I feel like they are already physically and mentally doomed.
