Great article, thanks (:

Having had a mild whiplash due to being in an auto accident I stay away from headstands. I do enjoy my husband's inversion table and I also have a headstand "stool" I purchased which allows my weight to be on my shoulders as I invert into headstand rather than my neck. Both of these allow me to enjoy inverting without compromise to my neck.

I always do shoulder stand with a folded blanket under my shoulders and arms (but not my head)so that my head is an inch or two lower than my arms. It takes a large amount of pressure off of the cervical spine area at the back of the neck and also makes it easier to breath.

I have enjoyed doing the Bikram opening breathing excercise while inverting using an inversion table very much, in fact I think I will go and do that now...Hope others will enjoy as much as I have!

I'd like to suggest inversion tables as a really good alternative for inversion asanas.
I've been using one at home and I can recommend it to anyone who wants to do inversions without any compression in your neck or upper back. Using inversion tables you can stretch your entire spine, neck included. Highly recommend.

I've being hanging upside down on my traction machine for over 8 years, i find it so relaxing and i like to meditate at the same time.

Can I have this persons contact? I have tingling and numbess caused by compression and I would like to know the routine he did.

Excellent article. Very helpful, well-researched and non-biased.

Very informative article. I had this question of whether to start practice of shirshasana after having paining upper back. This information will help me re-start the practice for short time at least.

I simply love the new newsletter. It is so complete and informative with numerous video instructions. I believe I have been getting the newsletter for over 8 years and I have been meaning to write to tell you how much I enjoy and learn from this each week! Keep up the great work!!
