The Purpose of Sun Salutations

See what it's like to repeat this for five rounds or 15 to 30 minutes. This can be the beginning of your practice or a full practice in and of itself. Incorporating Sun Salutations regularly can allow your practice to become a slow dance of conscious movement dedicated to energized presence.

Sarah Powers blends the insights of yoga and Buddhism in her practice and teaching. She incorporates both a Yin style of holding poses and a Vinyasa style of moving with the breath, blending essential aspects of the Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Viniyoga traditions. Pranayama and meditation are always included in her practice and classes. Sarah has been a student of Buddhism in both Asia and the U.S. and draws inspiration from teachers such as Jack Kornfield, Toni Packer, and Tsoknyi Rinpoche. Sarah also draws inspiration from the Self Inquiry (Atma Vichara) of the Advaita Vedanta philosophy. She lives in Marin, California where she home schools her daughter and teaches classes. No way. Yoga is good for people at any age. Yoga is a personal practice. If a pose feels painful, make it easier. Childs pose is always an option at anytime during a yoga session if you feel your body needs a break. Don't push yourself, allow your body to appreciate what you are doing for it. Yoga is amazing for you, never quit.
