Mandy, do the yoga with your mom. Unless you yourself have a condition that prevents you from practicing yoga then you too would greatly benifit from doing yoga with your mom. I am a certified yoga instructor who is also a care provider. One of my clients has MS and two have Downs Syndrome and the highlight of every meeting with each of them is when we practice yoga together. Peace and blessings to you Mandy and your mom.
My friend Lynnette Dickinson who has MS has just published a book about her journey (to peace) with MS and yoga visualization and meditation "A Journey to Peace Through Yoga" at www.asparkofsplendour.com . It is wonderful to see the befits of yoga and meditation for people with multiple schlerosis (ms). Thank you for this article. Ian
What if you don't have multiple sclerosis and your mom does and she has an ms yoga dvd and she wants me to do it with her, but.... is it safe for me to do with her not having this condition? The DVD is on www.mymyyoga.com and you can leave me answer on my email email@example.com I really appreciate it because my mother wants me to work out with her and I feel so bad not doing it, but I don't want to do something that might mess me up.
I practiced yoga for many years, and as health issues emerged I let it lapse. As part of treatment my physical therapist worked to set up a program for fatigue and strengthening - and lo and behold it very closely matched my old yoga routine! My main adaptions are in line with this article - sitting asanas, wall and chair support.
I have MS with significant mobility impairment. I would like to find a yoga DVD that deals with someone with my issues. Do you have any suggestions?
I have MS 5 years, practicing yoga and I am under treatment by Ayurveda, sister of yoga - it realy works! http://www.ebookmall.com/ebook/74643-ebook.htm
Find your local Ayurvedic doctor.
I am a MS patient I am also practicing yoga for Ms I stay in India Bangalore. Can you advice me what are the asanas and pranayama that a Ms patient has to do
This is very helpful. I am starting a basic yoga class next week. I am 28 and have MS. The worst symptom of all is the fatigue. It consumes almost my whole life. Unfortunatley I live in a small suburb in IL and there isn't much yoga or MS research in my area. If you have any more info on yoga and MS I would love to read it.
