Yoga Journal Wins Eighth Maggie Award for "Best Health and Fitness Magazine"

San Francisco, CA (May 4, 2011)—Yoga Journal (yogajournal.com), the country's most widely read yoga magazine, has won the 2011 Maggie Award for "Best Health and Fitness Magazine." This is the eighth top award that Yoga Journal magazine has received from the Western Publications Association in the past nine years.

The 2011 Maggie Award was given for the September 2010 issue, which was Yoga Journal's 35th Anniversary issue. Musician Sarah McLachlan graced the gatefold cover, and the issue included several innovative and fun editorial features such as a double gatefold timeline of "35 Moments" in yoga's 6,000-year history and a series of photo collages suggesting the timelessness of this ancient practice.

"Our September Anniversary issue is a great example of what can happen when edit, design, and advertising collaborate to bring a magazine fully to life," says Kaitlin Quistgaard, Yoga Journal's Editor in Chief. "We are honored, grateful, and proud to win this Maggie Award."

In addition to its most recent Maggie Award, Yoga Journal has also won six Folio Editorial Excellence Awards in the past ten years for "Best Health and Fitness Magazine" in the nation.
