A wedge of quince gives this hot cider a honeyed flavor without the honey.

Ingredients

  • 1 qt. apple cider
  • 1/2 unpeeled, uncored quince
  • 2 Tbs. brown sugar, optional
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg

Preparation

Simmer all ingredients in covered saucepan over low heat 20 minutes. Strain out solids before serving.
