It makes sense if you think about it. Yoga teachers often teach Ujjayi breath by telling their students to imitate Darth Vader, and you have to admit: there are similarities between the energetic work that happens in yoga class and The Force.
And with all the yoga hybrids available and this artwork illustrating yoga to Star Wars by artist Rob Osborne circulating on the Internet, it was only a matter of time before someone started the first Star Wars Yoga class.
Star Wars Yoga is a 90-minute yoga class for men only taught by a Bryan Miller through Manifest, a non-profit men’s wellness community. Miller, dressed like a Jedi for his interview with Portland’s KGW News Channel 8, said the idea for the class started as a joke and features Upward Facing Wookie Pose and Princess Leia Pose among other poses, and hopes the theme offers an entry point for young men to try yoga. “Yoda fits so well into the body-mind connection,” he said.
