Loved this article! My children run to me at the slightest hint of sniffles or a cough, all to get to the honey jar. As for the local honey as allergy remedy goes, I'm not sure if it's the placebo affect, but it works for me and my husband. We're a house full of honey junkies and bee lovers!


Honey and maple syrup are the only sweeteners I use. Local honey is great stuff. Hard to believe each bee only creates a drop of honey over its entire life!


What a wonderful article. Couldn't be more perfect: first the tribute to honey, then a discussion of the plight of bees, and then a few solutions for nurturing them in your own home. Well done! (PS pesticides weakening their immune systems, then virus and bacteria setting in get my vote)

Wow, this is such great and interesting information. I had no idea honey had so many benefits. I guess I have many new reasons to consume it now :) Thanks, also, for sharing your childhood memories.
