In celebration of the longest day of the year, the Times Square Alliance and clothing sponsor Athleta have partnered to offer free yoga classes for students of all skill levels in Times Square today from 7:30am to 8:30 pm.
Asana classes will be led by Douglass Stewart co-founder of Solstice in Times Square, Dana Flynn of Laughing Lotus, Rajashree Choudhury, and Athleta model athlete Drisana Carey. The event, which is taking place on the Broadway Plazas from 42nd to 47th streets, will also feature a yoga village with booths, giveaways, and activities.
"Times Square with all its many distractions is probably not the first place one would think to find inner calm, and yet, Times Square has become the most marvelous place to cultivate the inner seed of peace," said Stewart in a press release.
Athleta will be giving away free yoga mats to the first 1,500 people who check in to each class and will also be hosting a fashion show between classes. For more information, an event schedule, or to check out the live webcast, visit www.TimesSquareNYC.org.
