Several leaders in the yoga community have joined forces to share the myriad benefits of yoga for desk dwellers with attendees at the 2014 South by Southwest (SXSW) festival—and they need your help to make it happen.
A panel discussion called “YogaDotCalm: Streamlining Productivity & Focus,” is up for public vote to win a place at the famous music, film, and interactive festival that takes place in Austin, Texas each year. The panel will feature Yoga Journal’s Executive Online Editor Kelle Walsh, Yoga Dork blog founder Jennilyn Carson, yogin winemaker Karl Wente, and Poornima Vijayashanker, a founding engineer of Mint.com. It is certain to be a lively discussion about how yoga and meditation can enhance workflow and improve work/life balance in a world where technology and social media are everywhere.
“As a writer and editor, I've personally experienced how yoga and meditation can benefit my workflow besides helping me get the kinks out when sitting at my computer every day for longer than I'd like to admit,” Carson told Buzz. “We decided to submit this panel to help others, especially the desk dwellers, use yoga and meditation as tools for themselves, whether at the office, at home, or in their downtime so they can come back to their work refreshed and ready to go.”
Carson, who has been to SXSW the last three years either to teach yoga or present on a panel, also said she thinks this festival is important because attendees are “tech visionaries and pioneers leading us into the future.”
Voting is underway now, and will continue through September 6. To cast your vote, sign up for a free account here. Search for “YogaDotCalm” to find the panel and vote.
