Finding a yoga mat that feels like a comfortable home for your practice takes trial and error. Some mats look fabulous, but lack the right amount of cushioning or stickiness, or are questionably constructed. Others are well-made, yet lack visual appeal. And even if you check off the looks and functionality boxes, what about the eco-friendliness factor? After testing the 2nd Wind Yoga mat line, we can say it is definitely a new favorite. Here’s what we liked best about three mats in the collection.

2nd Wind Sticky Yoga Mat

Yoga Journal Review

The Sticky Yoga Mat boasts pleasing color options (we loved the amethyst) coupled with a solid design. Right away we noticed how well-made it is. Our testers found it very comfortable to practice on, and noticed that the mat made it easy to move into different poses with a grounded, stable feel. The mat is sturdy, if a tad heavy, and very simple to clean. Like the entire 2nd Wind yoga mat line, it’s free of toxic glues or latex/PVC. The 2nd Wind Sticky Yoga Mat goes above and beyond with the markings it has to guide where you place your hands and feet in your poses.

Yoga Journal Reader Review
The markings on the mat help keep me aligned and more in tune to the flow of my poses instead of having to constantly adjust. This improved my experience she moved through active yoga vinyasa flow practices. – Jill H.

2nd Wind Cork Yoga Mat

Yoga Journal Review

2nd Wind’s Cork Yoga Mat is heavy and thick, resulting in a mat that supports balance, possibly because the cork adds a little firmness to the otherwise squishy feel. Keeping your yoga space at a gently warm temperature will minimize any slippage of your hands and feet. To take the guesswork out of your practice, the waterbased-ink artwork tells you exactly where to place your hands and feet. Our testers appreciated 2nd Wind’s dedication to sustainability and the sturdy structure—you won’t be shopping for another mat soon with this pick.

Yoga Journal Reader Review

The natural color of the cork coupled with the intricate artwork makes it a pleasure to see unrolled and waiting for me.  I appreciate that the underside of the mat is dark and the top is light. For those of us who teach on camera or photograph our yoga practices, this is great, because so many mats are dark and if you wear dark colors on them, your legs disappear in seated poses on camera. – Robin B.

2nd Wind Towel-infused Yoga Mat

Yoga Journal Review

The Towel-Infused Mat is a cost-effective, ideal yoga mat for a sweaty, vigorous practice. It’s well-made, boasts numerous aesthetically pleasing design options, and is blessedly easy to clean. We appreciate the price point as well$80 is a reasonable amount to pay for a high end yoga mat.

Yoga Journal Reader Review

I loved the design, sturdiness, and the mat’s washability. I’ve thrown this mat in the wash multiple times and it still looks great. That’s a far cry from the mats I see falling apart at my local yoga studio because of increased cleanings. And I have used several other towel infused yoga mats, but none have ever been this well made. This mat is great for sweaty yoga sessions and also to help me stabilize and balance in poses like Downward Dog or Half Moon. – Leslie J.
