Yoga Journal Review
This past year, we’ve all been spending a LOT more time at home. Although it’s been trying at times, there are definite perks: Being able to wear PJ bottoms on a call with your boss, having the time and space to slip in a mid-day yoga session, and getting to arrange your space—be it an actual office or just a corner of your bedroom—to bring more comfort and productivity. When the Yoga Journal team started working from home last year, one of the first things people looked at adding to their setups was an essential oil diffuser.
Here’s why: Essential oils can subtly help alter your mood so that you can focus on whatever task is at hand. Studies suggest that essential oils interact with the brain and the nervous system to impact health and wellbeing. If you’re working and need focus and clarity, a few drops of peppermint, eucalyptus, or rosemary essential oil added to a diffuser will send your productivity through the roof. Need to unwind? A blend of lavender oil and frankincense can provide a sense of calm and relaxation.
And almost as important as choosing the right oil? Picking the right diffuser. Breathing in essential oils allows them to stimulate the olfactory system in the brain, which is what delivers the mood-altering benefits. With the addition of a few drops of water, essential oil diffusers can turn your work or rest space into an oasis. Enter the Cliganic Ultrasonic Aromatherapy Diffuser.
The size is perfect—small enough to fit on your desktop, but big enough to hold enough water to last for hours. Unlike smaller units, the Cliganic diffuser’s water resevoir holds 400 ml of water—enough to run for eight hours straight, though you can set it up to turn off after 1, 3 or 6 hours. (If you let it run the full 8 hours, it will turn off automatically). Even better, the device is whisper-quiet, so your meditation or work won’t be disturbed.
The sleek, teardrop shape and wood-grain exterior fits in any room, no matter your personal decor style. There is a ring around the base that changes from magenta, to red, purple, blue, green and on to yellow which is satisfying and relaxing and very pretty, especially in the evening.
Even if you don’t see your mood lift from using your diffuser, the beautiful wispy plume of mist flowing out of the top vent will add a bit of hydration to the air.
