Yoga Pod in Boulder, Colorado is hosting a special donation class on Friday, January 25, 2019 to benefit the California yoga studios impacted by the recent wildfires. Yoga Pod is partnering with Give Back Yoga Foundation, a national 501c3 nonprofit yoga organization, in hopes to inspire other yoga studios around the country to organize additional donation-based classes supporting the cause.
In November 2018, a massive wildfire ripped through the California mountain-side communities north of Sacramento. The fires engulfed 19,000 buildings, businesses, and homes in the town of Paradise, California.
Local yoga studio owners like Krisi Lopez, the owner of Awakened Yoga, have worked hard to help their community and those affected by the fires by offering free classes to all Paradise residents.
“When we heard how Awakened Yoga and other studios are providing free classes to help heal the community, provide more yoga supplies and help compensate teachers for the overflow—we knew we could help,” says Rob Schware, co-founder and executive director of Give Back Yoga.”Our goal is to mobilize studios around the country to come together and help fellow yogis and their communities get back on their feet.”
All of the proceeds from the Friday yoga class, “Compassion for Paradise”, will be used to provide one year of free yoga classes to Paradise residents, support to first responders, and replacing yoga equipment in the yoga studios that were destroyed from the fire.
All donations are tax deductible.
