The new Moon in Sagittarius on November 23, 2022, draws our attention to our spirit of adventure and how we interact with new perspectives.
Each new Moon is unique, offering its own magic governed by the astrological energy it falls within each month.
The Moon, like the Sun, travels through all twelve zodiac signs cyclically. The Moon passes through a zodiac constellation every two-and-a-half days, taking a little over twenty-nine days to complete a full round. From one month to the next, the new Moon lands in the subsequent zodiac sign, following the seasons of the Sun.
When the new Moon is positioned within a particular astrological energy, it takes on that vibration, affecting our emotions with that frequency. This energy gives us somewhere to focus each month, directing our attention to that aspect of ourselves.
Sagittarius is theming this new Moon for all of us. No matter our Sun sign, each of us will experience the new Moon in different ways. For each of us, it’s a time to start anew, to create a beginning, and to decide on a path.
What the new Moon in Sagittarius means for you
This is a powerful new Moon for feeling your potential and setting intentions that support it. So often, we stop short of what we are capable of achieving. We sabotage ourselves right at the finish line without ever knowing what would happen if we actually made it. Some of this behavior comes from fear of the unknown, some comes from fear of success, and some comes from fear of failure. It all comes from fear, though. And it shows up as what-ifs that suppress our positive visions and send us on a downward spiral of anxious or intrusive thoughts.
This new Moon in Sagittarius is an opportunity to step away from your fear and ask yourself, what if the best case happens? What if it all works out? Who would I be then?
Sagittarius represents truth. Its energy is always in search of truth and reminds us that sometimes our inner truths need to be rewritten. We all have stories and narratives that we tell ourselves about our lives. We have perspectives that form
our assumptions and expectations of ourselves and the world around us.
Some of these truths serve us and help us form our identities. Some of them, though, limit us and keep us confined to certain beliefs that feel safe but, in reality, block us from our potential. This new Moon is the time to look at the truths that rule your life and ask yourself if any need to be shifted, edited, or expanded upon.
Truths also form our comfort zones. They give us behaviors, thoughts, and beliefs to rely upon. They feel safe, and we often become attached to our truths. We can become so attached to them that we go out of our way to defend them and even debate them with others. While certain truths serve us, not all of them help us manifest our visions.
To create a life that breaks you out of old patterns and behaviors, you need to rewrite some truths. You need to step out of comfort zones that limit your expansion. You need to let yourself get lost in the unknown and allow uncertainty to open the doorway to an expanded life.
How to navigate the new Moon in Sagittarius
On this new Moon, identify any truths you hold on to out of fear or comfort. These truths can show up as beliefs in what you are capable of achieving. They can show up as doubts in your potential. They can also show up as mantras around who you are or aren’t.
As you write intentions this new Moon, notice if old truths come in to try to sabotage your dreams. Is there a voice within you telling you what is, or isn’t, possible? Are you holding yourself back from a life you want to live because you don’t feel it belongs to you? Continue to question these truths throughout the lunar cycle. Anytime you feel resistance or hesitation in your energy toward your dreams, ask yourself if an old truth is revealing itself.
Sagittarius is all about the direct experience with life. As you explore your truths and stories, it’s important to ask yourself if they are something you directly experienced or if they were taught to you. Much of what makes up our internal narrative comes from our childhood and includes things passed down to us. If you are holding on to truths that you did not experience yourself, you may want to challenge them. Often we assume that what we were taught is valid, but this is not always the case. Stories can be passed down from generation to generation. They will continue throughout your lineage until someone steps up and challenges them.
The Sagittarius new Moon is the time to decide for yourself what energy will dictate your life. It is simply not enough to accept the stories and truths from those before you. To truly expand your consciousness and break free of limiting patterns, you need to form internal narratives that reflect your direct experience with life.
Other astrological influences on the new Moon
On this new Moon, we have the very serendipitous aspect of Jupiter stationing direct as it forms a trine with the Moon and Sun. Jupiter is the ruling planet of Sagittarius. It is often thought of as the planet of luck, but it’s more about faith. Jupiter helps us feel our potential and take leaps of faith to meet it. It’s also a very positive energy that helps us have faith in the best-case scenario.
Jupiter expands us. As the largest planet in the solar system, it was almost a second Sun. It is the astrological manifestation of an energy that stopped just short of its potential. On this new Moon, Jupiter is greatly activated as it stations direct. This energy helps us feel where we are stopping short of becoming a great force in our lives and the lives of others.
The new Moon in Sagittarius offers a potent time for an energetic reset. As the Moon meets the Sun in the sky, we begin a new lunar cycle. The spark created from their meeting provides us with new vibrations waiting to be harnessed and directed. Each lunar cycle brings us new opportunities, new truths, and new perspectives. It is a constant reminder that we can shift, change, and create wild possibilities. As you write your intentions this new Moon, challenge yourself to dream bigger. Break the mold of what you have written in the past.
It can be tempting to focus on the details and steps of your journey. This new Moon, though, is about something more significant. Take a step back and see the bigger picture of your life. Notice where you are limiting yourself and ask why. Expand your perception and see how much opportunity is available to you when you look beyond your limiting beliefs. See what’s available to you when you focus on the possibilities in your life instead of your fears. Find your higher meaning and purpose.
