The new Moon in Aries is always an electric time. This particular new Moon on April 1, 2022, occurs when all other planets are moving direct, meaning there are no planetary retrogrades. The forward motion in the Universe brings even more energy and motivation to our intentions. Allow these vibrations to help you see the full range of possibilities of your life and the many directions you can take to land at your soul’s mission.

What the new Moon in Aries means

The abundant energy of Aries comes with a bit of restlessness. There is an excess of energy in the Universe with this new Moon, and it may make you feel impatient, frustrated, or anxious. You may even feel like you’re waiting for something exciting to happen, but you don’t quite know what it is yet. If you find yourself with restless energies, make sure to move your body and find ways to break up stagnant energy—this can look like a three-mile run, a yoga practice, or a much-needed journaling session. When you move your energy, you create freedom and unlock your potential.

Along with forward-moving energy, there’s an element of expansion to this new Moon. It inspires you to grow. It also asks you to update and even upgrade your intentions. This new Moon is an excellent time to face your fears around your soul’s mission. You may have a deep inner knowledge of your soul’s path and what it would look like to create this life. It takes courage, though, to align with your life’s mission. It may even take risks or leaps of faith to create a life you know you were born to live.

How to navigate the new Moon in Aries

Over this new Moon, look at any fears you have around decisions that will help you align with your life’s path. Ask yourself if you are going to war with these places or if you can meet them with compassion. Your fears need acceptance and love, but they do not need to control you.

Acknowledge your fears and instead of battling them, hear them out. Ask them what they want to express and let them be seen. When you understand your fears, they lose their power over you. You can make the decisions you need to make, knowing what internal obstacles will pop up in your path. You can then overcome these blocks by understanding their origin. Confront your fears on this new Moon and place them in the backseat of your life while you continue on the road to your soul’s mission.

This new Moon sits conjunct, or next to, Mercury and Chiron. Although there is much action and expansion to this Moon, there is also an opportunity to go within and have deeper conversations with your soul. Chiron is the wounded healer of the zodiac. The influence of this energy brings up our past, including our trauma and subsequent wounds. Its influence on this new Moon can shed light on how your past limits your path forward. Are there old patterns from a different time that are currently blocking your growth? Does your past pain control you and your decisions in any way?

After a traumatic experience, it’s normal to shy away from taking risks of any kind. We cling to safety and known elements. We also tend to assume the past is bound to repeat itself, and therefore contracts our energy to avoid future pain. The past is the past, though. You may never be able to change what has already occurred, but you also do not need to assume painful feelings are bound to happen again.

This astrological year has the overriding theme of healing. Begin this process on this first new Moon of the year. Address areas of yourself that need love and compassion for you to grow and align with your soul’s mission. Begin to undo the damage of the past by understanding first that it exists. Understand your wounds, fears, and shadows, along with how they have limited you. Ask yourself if you’re limiting yourself because of past experiences. Notice if your wounds control you from behind the scenes and sabotage your dreams even before they begin. Then choose a new path forward, one that affords you expansion, space, and freedom to walk your life’s path.

Journal prompts for the new Moon in Aries

When writing intentions month after month, there is a tendency to continue with the same pattern. The Aries new Moon is a time to break old habits and experiment with new visions. Feel your most expanded self and ask what visions align with this person. Notice if you are keeping yourself small or limiting your potential in any way. Instead, challenge yourself to have the courage to make your dreams bigger this astrological year.

Aries breathes new life into our intentions and allows us to create visions that begin a new path forward. Challenge yourself and align with a new consciousness, one that sees the future as a blank slate. See yourself as the creator of your reality. Although your past has shaped who you are today, you can choose to no longer allow it to limit or contain your future self.

These questions are designed to help you become clear in your intentions. Before sitting down to carve out your visions, first tend to any stuck or excessive energy within you. Having free-flowing energy will also allow you to write your intentions with more ease and inner guidance. Take a few deep breaths to ground yourself before answering them. Sit with each question for a moment and allow the answer to naturally arise, being open to the person you are becoming. As you write, know you are opening the door to your intuition and giving permission to your highest visions to come out and be seen.

  1. What helps you feel your soul’s mission and the journey your energy wants to go on this lifetime?
  2. What motivates you to take steps on your life’s path even when they feel scary or unknown?
  3. How do you respond to pressure? Do you use it as fuel for your journey and to develop courage or do you let it overwhelm you?
  4. What keeps you motivated even when your passions begin to fizzle? What gives you courage to overcome obstacles and inner strength to continue on your path?
