There isn’t much movement in the cosmos this week, although there is one important transit with an influence that will extend well beyond these seven days. Change is on its way—expect passion, curiosity, and discovery.
Mars in Gemini
Each transit in astrology asks you to experience the world through the lens of the planet and zodiac sign that takes on the role of teacher during that time. This week marks the beginning of Mars’ seven-month stay in the sign of Gemini. Mars usually spends around 45 days in each zodiac sign. But the planet will begin to move through its retrograde in Gemini beginning in late October until January 2023. This seemingly backward motion means the planet will have an extended stay in a single zodiac sign. When there is such an emphasis on a particular astrological energy, we listen.
Mars, according to astrology, is our warrior planet. It is all things related to fire and passion, motivation and strength. It propels us forward, urging us to take steps in the direction of what is calling our name and make changes that are aligned with the life we desire. Mars is an energy unto itself. By connecting with it, we are seemingly gifted an extra motor to keep moving.
Gemini, an air sign ruled by the planet Mercury, speaks to all things pertaining to the mind, communication, and information. It is deeply curious and loves variety, movement, and learning. Gemini is a social sign that wants to take in as much information as it can from every possible source on every conceivable topic, including alternative walks of life and new perspectives. It also wants to share this with anyone who will listen. With this penchant for diversity, Gemini is quite changeable and not fixed in any way of seeing the world. Rather, it constantly shifts, changes, and transforms.
As Mars and Gemini come together, so do passion and curiosity, motivation and mental energy, drive and exploration. Mars and Gemini are fire and air feeding one another, motivating each other, and growing together.
This seven-month collaboration of cosmic energies opens the door for vibrancy and expansion, intellectual breakthroughs, and opportunities for expansion. With Gemini as curious as it is, the motivation that is sparked throughout this time may not be geared toward one fixed direction. Gemini asks for an exploration of where Mars wants to take you. There can be periods of questioning, discovery, sharing, more questioning, learning, and rediscovery. There will be moving in one direction and then shifting to another.
Don’t be afraid to be flexible, to let curiosity guide you, and to try new things. There is no right or wrong way to do life here. If you find yourself walking in a certain direction, try to do so without clinging to a particular outcome. If you are guided to move in a different direction, let yourself pivot. Every path is available. With each step taken, we grow, expand, and meet ourselves in new ways.
You may find that this transit invites intellectual hunger. Books, podcasts, courses, speaking, and journaling may call to you. Avail yourself of anything that can feed your mind with the incredible wisdom available within our magnificent universe. Let yourself revel in topics that light your inner fire. Take it all in.
With an entire seven months of this collaborative energy, we are assured that there is space for patience. Whatever unique lesson this transit holds for us, it will take time to unfold. This is an exciting time for each of us, a time of expansion and change. Mars will hold an intention during this transit that is unique to each of us. What we know for certain is that we will each step out of this time as someone new, changed, and transformed.
