It’s an intense week in astrology with numerous invitations, directions, and insights calling our names. Scorpio energy will take us deep within ourselves and rule the week with the onset of Scorpio season, both Venus and Mercury entering Scorpio, and a deeply impactful solar eclipse taking place in Scorpio.
Also, Saturn finishes its retrograde, bringing greater awareness and insight. Meanwhile, our planet of luck and expansion, Jupiter, enters the mystical waters of Pisces. We are being reminded, again and again, that the divine can always be found within.
Sun enters Scorpio
As the Sun moves through each sign, it acts like a big beam of light illuminating what has been previously unseen. On October 23, 2022, the Sun will enter Scorpio. During this time, it’s all about the unseen.
Scorpio is the parts of self that are hidden in the depth of our inner worlds. It is our vulnerabilities, our fears, our deeply embodied intuition, and our innermost psyche.
During Scorpio season, we are invited to return to the wisdom of our bodies, to the emotions waiting to be acknowledged, and into a deep surrender and trust in what we cannot control. It’s a time that asks us to take off the layers of armor that we have built around us and sit in our vulnerabilities.
Venus enters Scorpio
Venus is our feminine goddess of love, beauty, relationships, and self-worth. In astrology, Venus also speaks to comfort, pleasure, harmony, and abundance, including in the financial realm.
Like all planets, Venus takes on a different style of expression as she moves through each sign of the zodiac. When she enters Scorpio on October 23rd, the energy will feel nothing short of intuitive, transformative, and quite passionate.
Venus and Scorpio coming together bring an intensity to our relationships and the way in which we experience love. It’s intimacy and focus. It’s desire and potential for deep inner healing. Scorpio isn’t here for superficial connection. It’s here to connect only at the deepest level.
Venus will be the first planet to usher us into this watery sign, with others following quickly afterward.
Saturn direct in Aquarius
In astrology, Saturn is the planet associated with responsibility, authority, and limitation. Often compared to the “strict father” archetype, Saturn knows that we learn and grow best through experience. We see our strength when we are presented with challenge. We come to know and embody our worth when that worth comes into question. We know our limitlessness when we are presented with limitation.
On October 23, 2022, Saturn brings an end to the retrograde that began in June, closing a chapter that we have been reading ever since Saturn entered Aquarius in early 2020.
As Saturn reemerges from its seemingly backward motion, we will be presented with a new perspective and invited to explore how our hardships during the last two years have shaped us, how we have grown, what we have realized about ourselves, and how these challenges have provided our greatest opportunities.
New Moon solar eclipse in Scorpio
This week’s new Moon will also be a solar eclipse in Scorpio. It isn’t just the astrological happening of the week, it’s a major theme of October and one of the most influential cosmic happenings of 2022.
While the new Moon and solar eclipse on October 25, 2022, will bring an opening of a brand-new chapter, it will also be immersed in the energy of Scorpio, which is that of release, surrender, and metaphorical death. Like all great things, this eclipse will be both a beginning and an ending. It will bring the energy of a new Moon plus so much more. Filled with the potential for renewal and rebirth, it reminds us that we must first walk through the flames of all that is no longer for us—fears, stories, wounds, patterns—before we can reemerge.
Here we will be given the hope needed to radically let go of everything that is not our deepest inner truth so that we can come into deeper communion with all that is.
Jupiter retrograde enters Pisces
Jupiter is our planet of growth, luck, abundance, and happiness and has a deeply intuitive relationship with wisdom and higher knowledge. It is the planet that reminds us that life is on our side and growth is our natural state.
Jupiter was in Pisces earlier this year from January through April. On October 28, it moves back into this mystical sign while in retrograde. Here we can see themes of these earlier months presenting themselves once again for review, exploration, and for greater healing and growth.
While Jupiter is in retrograde, the outward and expressive energy of the planet turns inward. Instead of bringing expansion to our outer world, it expands from within the self, bringing growth to our inner wishes and dreams, our wisdom and knowing. While in Pisces, this inner exploration takes on a dreamy energy.
It’s a spiritual time. Our connection to what we may call God, the Universe, or the Divine is where our greatest growth and healing will take place.
Mercury enters Scorpio
In astrology, Mercury represents all things pertaining to the mind. It’s how we take in information, process it, and express it. Also, it is our thinking, learning, and communication.
Because Mercury is in much closer physical proximity to Earth than most planets, it shows up in our everyday lives in a prominent way. As Mercury moves through the signs of the zodiac, our minds begin to take on the energy, speed, and intentions of each sign. It’s as if we are continually trying on zodiac-colored glasses in terms of how we begin to process the world through that color and lens.
On October 29, Mercury will join both the Sun and Venus as it enters the sign of Scorpio. While Mercury is in this water sign, there will be an intensity brought into our intuitin, a laser focus to our thoughts, and a depth and truth expressed through our communication.
This will be a time of exploring our inner psyche, where mystery captures our attention and each word expressed holds a piercing layer of power.
This week takes us by the hand and wanders through the depths of our inner world. We are being asked to witness our strength, our inner power, our sense of safety in the world, and our connection to the divine.
As Scorpio season begins, allow yourself to be guided by the intuition that sits deep within your body. It desires to hold you where you may rather run away, show you what you may rather not see, and help you sit still amid any discomfort, all so that you can walk straight into and through it all, so that you may heal, transform, and reemerge.
As Venus enters Scorpio, bring truth into your relationships. Explore the depth of your connection with another, knowing that it is only through bearing all that you may be loved and accepted for all that you are.
When Saturn shifts its motion and moves forward once again, explore whether you can notice the hidden gifts in the challenges you’ve experienced during the last four months. Notice what felt like a struggle. And be prepared to notice what lessons are waiting on the other side.
Let the Scorpio solar eclipse burn away all that is not yours so that you may step into real inner power, inner safety, inner trust, and inner sense of belonging in this life. This is an entirely new beginning in the journey of our lives.
There is a direct doorway to the divine that is found only within, and as Jupiter retrograde reenters Pisces, allow yourself to step through it. Allow this reconnection to a sense of magic to remind you of your oneness and inherent belonging in the Universe.
As the week comes to an end and Mercury joins the underworld of Scorpio, explore each word expressed as if it held the power of creation. Use the laser mental focus of Scorpio to explore your inner worlds, look at your mental patterning and any beliefs that are not yours to carry.
A busy time in our skies and therefore within, this week is an opportunity for a deep renewal of ourselves and of our lives.
