OM Yoga Mix 2, by Cyndi Lee. Dharma Moon; dharmamoon.com
OM Yoga Mix 2 includes an eclectic group of artists—some you’ve probably heard before, others new and upcoming: ambient mantra singers Vive; the Beyman Bros, an American—meets—New Age band (which consists of film director Christopher Guest and OM Yoga cofounder David Nichtern); and kirtan music veterans Krishna Das and Omar Faruk Tekbilek. But the real stars here are electronic composers Kodomo and Indian sarangi player and singer Ustad Sultan Khan, who wrote and recorded original songs for this compilation.
The upbeat tunes are real movement motivators, and the more mellow tracks invite relaxation and reflection. In the liner notes of this soul-stirring collection—put together by the other half of OM Yoga, cofounder Cyndi Lee—is a dynamic flowing sequence created (and hand-drawn) by Lee to accompany the first few songs.
