Chinese legend has it that a man named Li Qing Yuen consumed goji berries daily and lived to be 252 years old. Today the berries are making a comeback as the snack du jour, dubbed “Hollywood’s secret anti-aging food” and “the snack Tibetan monks prefer.”
Such claims aside, goji berries are high in antioxidants. Studies show that nibbling on them can give you a dose of healthy carotenoids such as beta carotene and zeaxanthin, which help keep your vision sharp. While the dry, shriveled reddish berries may not look tasty, they’re deliciously tangy, earthy, and chewy. You’ll find them in health food stores.
