As the weather heats up, you may find yourself appreciating the warm temperature when it comes to your practice. Suddenly, that long walk to your favorite studio doesn’t feel quite as frigid. Hey, you may even opt to take your next flow outside. Yet, even as you bask in the warmth of the sun (or at least sneak in some vitamin D), your legs may be feeling a bit, erm, sweatier than usual. Those warm, winter leggings just aren’t cutting it for your summer practice. Instead, you may want to opt for a pair of lightweight, breathable leggings.
I tested out different types of lightweight summer leggings for you during my at-home practices and hot yoga classes, and these are my favorite options that give you that barely there feel. Because when it comes to your practice, the last thing you want to be thinking about is what you’re wearing.
The best lightweight leggings for your summer practice
It’s rare to find a pair of leggings that strike the perfect balance between softness and stretch. These lightweight leggings do just that. Made with polyester and elastane, they stay up on your waist, while still giving you space to move freely throughout your practice. After emerging from a hot yoga class, I found these leggings didn’t stick to my (already) sweaty skin, thanks to their wicking and quick-drying properties. Sweaty Betty’s All Day High-Waisted Workout 7/8 Leggings, $88
If you prefer for your leggings to feel a bit like a suction cup (in a good way!), this pair from Set Active may be your new favorite summer pair. The material’s polyester-spandex blend offers plenty of stretch, while also sticking to your waist line. As you move through your practice, you may forget you’re even wearing them. Set Active’s Luxform Leggings, $78
When you find yourself practicing on the hottest day of the year, these are the leggings you’ll want to pick. With a very thin (but squat-proof!) fabric, this pair allows you to breathe, sweat, and move without the discomfort of heavier tights. Constructed with nylon and lycra, they are Athleta’s most lightweight legging. Plus, with sizing ranging from XXS to 3X, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to find the right pair for your body. Athleta’s Transcend 7/8 Tight, $99
