11 Fashionable, Functional Yogawear Pieces for the Curvy Yogini

Yoga is for every body, yet sometimes it feels like the industry surrounding the practice ignores the plus-size woman. But that might be starting to change. Here are 11 fashionable yet functional yoga pieces for the average American woman.

Yoga is for every body, yet sometimes it feels like the industry surrounding the practice ignores the plus-size woman. But that might be starting to change. A recent study found that the average American woman is actually a size 16-18, up from a size 14 a decade ago. And yogawear companies are finally starting to pay attention.

Major brands like Athleta have stylish plus-sized collections, and there are a whole slew of new, independent activewear companies that cater to women of all sizes. This is great news for me and for all curvy yoginis. As someone who loves fashion, it’s important to me to find yoga gear that looks good, feels great, and moves with my body like a second skin. The last thing I need is to be hiking up a waistband or pulling down a tank during asana. Yet in the past, I’ve struggled to find pants that provide enough coverage in the rear, and bras that can support my assets and still look pretty.
